An excellent album by Proem, probably my favorite by him. What you have here is 11 new tracks and 2 remixes of tracks specially created for this release. If you're not a fan of the mini-disc, then you'll probably be upset that its the only format available (at least for now) for this release. Some tracks are upbeat IDM, while others are slowed down ambient tunes. Proem has a picture mixture of the two on here it seems and I hope he makes another album like this someday. Tracks that standout for me are "001", "Earlyrings" and the short "Eat Knife". Would be nice to have this one on vinyl.

Two Proem albums in one year? And it's even on minidisc - I couldn't be happier. 'Among Others' comes hot off a flood of rave reviews for 'Negativ', the excellent Proem full length released earlier this year on the Merck label. Where 'Negativ' concentrated darkness into intricate, bubbling/spurting beats and thought-provoking melodies and synthlines, 'Among Others' dives further into the gloom, keeping the schizo beats mostly at bay and relying more heavily on complex bass patterns and moody atmospherics. Right from the start, the mood is set, daring the listener to dim the lights and let the music flow into the ears, saturate the bloodstream, and burrow into that part of the brain that might secretly thirst for dejection.
