Release day, however, the album reveled a surprising change in direction. In fact the album proved to be quite diverse with tracks like the blues like "Momma Sed", the trancy "Trekka" and "Indigo Children" and then the random gospel chantings of "Sour Grapes". The greatest disappointment, however, was the replacement of acclaimed tracks rev 22:20 and the Undertaker [renholder mix] with the anti-climactic rev 22:20 [dry martini mix] and the Undertaker [original].
Even so, the album is not to be swept under the carpet, as most tracks are unusually catchy once you get over the album's experimental nature which allows us to see a new side of Maynard's creativity. To give the album full credit you will definitely need to listen to each track a few times. Give it time to grow on you, loose yourself in the well layered tracks and enjoy the subliminal messaging.
