waking up to an old classic film's nostalgia, Quantic's second album 'Apricot Morning' soon flows into its funky breakbeat jazzy latin grooves, with some downtempo beauties laced in between. the organic artwork covering this record of sounds exquisitely explains the world they reside in, working with the music so lavishly to open you up and set your moods.. to an overwhelming warmth of flavour culled together tightly with critiqued electronic elements.. then leaving you wanting to hear more, feel more, or know more.. whats next?

this may be a bit much to experience at first, especially to anyone favoring Quantic's first work, The 5th Exotic, but overall, Apricot Morning shows an abundance of growth and possibilities that cannot be denied. similarities and distinctions all at once.

What a blessing and a curse Internet can be! Without it I would never have stumbled upon Quantic, by hearing him on an internet-radio station with 'Life In The Rain' and consequently downloading his new CD, 'Apricot Morning'. Without it I would also never have had to start the terrible quest for this CD in almost every record-store in Holland (I still don't have it, any suggestions are welcome!)
After kicking in with the title track, it remains exciting, sometimes laidback, sometimes uplifting, but always very well crafted. All kinds of jazzy samples, funky beats and what else (Quantic seems to have hired a complete brass section for this CD) make listening to this CD very enjoyable. This man's a genius and he deserves my money, even if I had to get the CD from abroad!
