I don't know how the Producers managed to get such an entertaining and bumping Bass Sound; but on most Songs the Bass just moves over the Floor like Liquid Lead or Quicksilver. Never heard anything like that before on a Rap Record. Lyric-Wise :First i was a bit put off by some Skits,
i thought "no need to sport bad behaviour on record'; but by now this talk mostly makes sense within the concept of 'The Lex Diamond Story' - This Scarface-inspired Fantasy Harlem Drug Lord is Raekwon's Alter Ego and you can figure out how he behaves and what type of situations he comes in.
Forget all that + we still find half a dozen top-notch Trax easily : Pit Bull Fights, Clientele Kid, Pa-Blow Escablow, Ice Cream Pt.2 and Once Upon a Time are my Faves here; but that tends to change with each Listening Round - These Trax still sound strong , but i find other Trax that catch my ears = this is a real good album, that works perfect as a whole and has an overall sonic quality, which is crucial to every great Hip Hop CD - If an album doesn't sound like a Donald Goines Novel and hs a certain Sound forget it. It might still be a good album with a lot of great Trax on it, but it won't qualify as a Hip Hop Classic. Okay - 'Only Built 4 Cuban Linx' is in another higher Category, but right now 'The Lex Diamond Story' is my favourite Gangsta Rap album by a Mile.
