By now, anyone expecting Rank 1 to go back to stock Uplifting Trance should probably just let it go. This compilation succeeds on 3 fronts: showing the duo's change in musical direction through their track selection and own productions, their DJ side, and showing the latest offerings from the Be Yourself catalogue. As they said in a Trancenu interview promoting the compilation, they were given complete control over track selection but ended up choosing plenty of Be Yourself / High Contrast records anyway. Because of this, it should come as no surprise that the tracklisting is excellent and maintains a progressive feel throughout. The mixing is also very good but sometimes it feels a bit too 'safe' with late mix-ins and fade-outs. However, there really are no complaints unless you object to their pre-dominantly progressive track selection. This is where Rank 1 seem to be staying, and they're very very good at it.
