Richie Hawtin & John Acquaviva ‎– X-Mix-3 - Enter: Digital Reality!

I am surprised like Sneaky-Peanut that there is only one review :) After listening to some experiences from Mr. Steve Mason on BFBS radio show or some HR3 clubnights with Frank Lorber or Sven Väth ( I'm living in Nowhereland, no clubs in the area of 60 km and hard to get there if you're only 15 at age) this was my first touch with electronic music in a perfect quality. To say the most important first: thank you John Acquaviva for this brilliant mix (sorry Richie, your mix is perfect but John's is not from this world; I guess you're trying to get him back in our spheres with your didgeridoo). Twenty years later I can name only a few DJ-Sets which are from equal quality, but the first cut is the deepest, and it will stay like this forever. I must say that due to these two I entered digital reality. My love to you !!!

I'm surprised no-one's reviewed this yet. This is one killer compilation, not least due to the swift mixing going on in John Acquaviva's set. The first 20 minutes are the most intense. John manages to squeeze eight tracks into those 20 minutes, often with an overlap of two or three minutes between tracks so you end up with totally new tracks. Some rare and brilliant tracks on here too, and as far as I know this is the only place you can find tracks like 'Metamorphosis' by Orson Karte and 'First Light' by Sysex on CD.

Richie Hawtin has a hard act to follow, but his handful of tracks are equally good as Aquaviva's although left playing for longer (and arguably better mixed as a result). A slightly less exciting end to a euphoric beginning, but still a brilliant example of Hawtin's DJ skills.
