"I recently picked up a copy via discogs and was really surprised at house fresh this still sounds today"
Note that this should read 'how fresh' - and *not* 'house fresh'!
Anyway, now I've got to add a few words to post this I might as well add that in hindsight the A-side is also pretty good, albeit considerably downtempo (106BPMish?) compared to the flip and clearly aimed more at the headz than the dancefloor.
Having missed this one on release, I recently picked up a copy via discogs and was really surprised at house fresh this still sounds today. Forget the A-side - the flip is the real gem on this 7". Heavy uptempo funk breaks with some ace cuts and scratches, vintage horn stabs and a fat rolling bassline - devestating on the dancefloor when used in the mix with classic funk 45's. Quite possibly the best track Rob life has done to date.
