Roman Flügel's Geht's Noch? was a big hit in 04/05.
But I think it grew too commercial.
After signing it to Superstar Recordings the track wasn't underground anymore. House deejays all over the world played it and the new Steve Angello Remix. Geht's Noch even got a music video in Germany, which was really stupid.
Now you can get 15 different releases of the track, 3 of them are CD5". The track was played over and over again, until nobody wanted to hear it anymore. It was voted one of the most annoying tracks 2005.
I think it is disappointing what Cocoon did, taking a track from the Cocoon Compilation D, which is limited and only to be found for the double price now and almost making it mainstream. Keep it underground.

Geht's Noch is a minimalistic techno masterpiece. A good simple track usually means the artist didn't bother with too much "ear candy" that plagues so many recent dance tracks, and though I'm not familiar with Roman's other work.. I think he has minimalism down. The infectuous whiney hook teases very effectively. I always admire artists who stick with old school noises like that distinctive cowbell... the very fact that he uses those shows he's a quality producer who doesn't rely on ADD-friendly effect saturation and frequent moderations to the flow of the music.. he instead embeds the essence of quality techno in the way the sounds are put together. Well done.

Not as disastrous as claimed, but off the mark by a mile given Flügel's usual standards. The man's original is a self-indulging lazy bass stomper that plods through its nearly 7 minutes with little change, accompanied by hi-hats a plenty, a thoroughly cringeworthy cowbell (wtf's with that?) and the infamous ecstatic faux-rave hook. Pretty, uh... iffy. Flipside is where the money is, with Dominik Eulberg providing a smart and snappy rendition that even makes the childish squeak surprisingly tolerable, although the track's 8 minutes are still a bit long to sit through. Get a grip, Roman.

Spanish release of Roman Flugel's monster track. This song is absolutely huge! Serious synth stab that gets higher and higher and more distorted. Kills the dancefloors.

So good for so long. And then suddenly, fame blinds you. What we have here, is what in danish terms is called "At sejre sig selv ihjel", meaning that your succes grows into failure.

After having released 99% perfect shit, this one draws a very short straw. The inspiration from Rocker is so obvious that it´s embarrasing and it kind of reminds me of some danish guy called DJ Alligator Project who released some similar themed "techno" tracks around the millenium shift.

Such a shame. Hope that he gets a wake up call before it´s too late. On top of being an excellent producer and a decent DJ, he´s a helluva nice guy too.
