An all-round wicked 12". Obviously the Fluffy Bagel mix is the real attention-grabber, but Peter Ford puts some sterling work in on the much-overlooked version on the flip.
Theme from Funky Killer is also dope...proto trip hop madness : )

The 'Fluffy Bagel mix' is an excellent acidic reworking of the original, and still sounds fresh today. Mark McGuire strips the track down to the "Superfly guy" vocal hooks, adds some bubbling 303s and mechanical drum patterns, whilst maintaining quality production.

Superb party music to keep people dancing and smiling, without a whiff of cheese.

As per the 12" version of "Theme from S'Express", this longer mix of "Superfly guy" includes a couple of pervy samples around the middle section. It ends with a sample of a Texas radio broadcast - "…ain't nothing going on" and is a work of genius. "Lollypop", on the b-side, is based around a repeated sample of a voice saying "suck it", which is juxtaposed against various sampled "replies" such as "no thank you" or "okay, I will". The track was reworked as "Blow me another lollypop" on the first S'Express album "Original soundtrack" (Rhythm King, LEFT8, 1988), although I prefer this version. "Funky killer" is built around a taut two-note bassline, with some sinister ambient effects on top .

The end section of this remix, introduced by Mark Moore himself, can be heard on the Bomb The Bass album "Into the dragon" (Rhythm King DOOD1, 1988) between the tracks "Megablast" and "Shake it".
