Reviews & Discussion

Rated 5/5

For the U.S. release of Saint Etienne's WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE, Roger Sanchez gets his capable hands on the glistening pop song and reforms it into upbeat house tracks. Get those disco balls spinning for the "Strobelights & Platform Shoes Mix." The vocals get cut up for the "Nu Solution Mix" and "Saturday Night Fever Dub." Obviously, though, the Aphex Twin provides the more interesting mixes, of course, including his stunning "Quex-rd Mix," full of his trademark clanging percussion and transformation of Sarah Cracknell's voice into an Eastern-tinged mantra. His work on "Your Head My Voice" is more ambient and less harsh, but no less fascinating. Worth it for those mixes alone (although you can find them on various compilations).
