Reviews & Discussion

The best mix ever. I'm glad I only found the Northern Exposure vol. 1 with only cd 1, because that's the only one I need. The two first songs, #1 and #2, are as we all know two of the best ambient-songs ever done, so beautiful I could cry.
Then we come to #6, "I'm free (Playdo's minimalist mix/The full length la serrena mix), which also is one of those so-beautiful-it-makes-me-wanna-cry-songs. Pure happiness.
After that it gets deeper and deeper, but still this very surrealistic, magic style. And what song could ever finish a mix like this better than "last train to lhasa"? such a magical tune.

I hope you all know that this is THE essential Sasha-cd. None of his later, more famous cd's, can compare to this one! Lovely...

Classic disc by Sasha (Disc 2 was Digweed's disc).

I rate the mix between Raincry and OBE as one of the best mixes between two tracks I've ever heard, it's utterly spine-chilling.

I really like the beginning of this disc through the breaks portion in the middle, but once I get to Kites and I'm free, I have to start skipping tracks - those vocals just didn't age very well for me. The comp picks back up at the end with the remix of Water on a Vine Leaf and the Banco de Gaia remix. Hence the 4 out of 5.

This is a very intense and deeply emotional set. The whole album is a mind trip from start to finish. This CD was basically the soundtrack to my life for a year or so. I have only heard the two disc set once, but I managed to find this disc about 3 or 4 years ago. It is one of the most influential trance CDs in existence. Don't miss it.

This is the 1 disc version of Northern Exposure Volume 1. Norther Exposure was originally released with 2 CD's (0 degrees north and 0 degrees south).

This 1 disc version contains only 0 degrees North (disc 1) but that is far from being a bad thing. This cd starts out nice and ambient/dreamy and progresses through a variety of genres while never losing it's way.

The second disc (missing from this release) is not as good, it has a darker, harder sound to it and I prefer disc 1.

I think this cd is getting hard to find now too, so if you can get your hands on a copy, please do. One of the most important dance cd's ever released IMO.
