Sesto Sento (Aviram Saharai, Itai Spector and Matan Kadosh) is out with their second album on Com.Pact Records in Israel. Sesto Sento is to be found on a lot of different compilations lately, and is among several rising stars on the Com.Pact label.

First we get an intro with the sound of someone walking and some really weird voice samples. Then track 2 starts with some beautiful sounds, before the rolling deep basslines slowly goes into the track. Pretty full on rhythms. After a while we get a really happy light melody. Totally morning style! Track 3 is a bit more full on, but after a while, we are back into total morning vibes with almost a housy touch. A female voice and light melodies. Reminds me a lot of Astrix. Track 4 has a really groovy bass line, and the melodies are a bit more full on. Some parts might sound a bit too cheesy to some. Track 5 starts with a cheesy melody, but things get better when the rhythms starts rolling. The melody comes back into the track several times. Not among my favourites on this album.

Track 6 is better. This sounds deeper and darker. Then we get a break in track 7 with a beautiful chill out track. Very relaxing, with nice down tempo rhythms, some piano sounds etc. In track 8 we go back to more full on sound again. It has a very happy vibe that for sure will create some smiles on the dance floor. Track 9 sounds a bit more hard banging and darker. Track 8 goes the same way, but with a bit more melodies. The last track on this album is surprisingly a drum ‘n’ bass track! I love d ‘n’ b, so I think it's pretty cool, but it sounds a bit more like old school jungle than modern drum ‘n’ bass.

This album gives you a lot of variation. Chill out, jungle, morning trance, full on and house influenced trance. Sesto Sento sure wants to show us some different sides of their production skills.

The Brigt Side was mastered by Lior Perlmutter (Astral Projection) as it can let foresee, the content is more Full on than The Inner Light with higher bpm (mainly 143-145 instead of 138-141).

The groovy side of Sesto’s dudes doesn’t dissappear completly here, nevertheless it’ss less present or maybe more complicated to catch due to the uptempo except especially on (4) with an ultra-speed psychogroove & turbo-jet crazy dancefloor filler , also on (2) with special hard hackin’ fx & on (9).

Some others comments about the build up, i got the impress that fx-sounds are more employed than never before by the Sesto team all along except on (7), which also means for me a focus on melody driving you by time into an emotional dimension (3,6 & deeper in 7 : the chill one) ; indeed the tunes have improved in density & amplitude.

Always the same strong effort put on harmonies that i appreciate very much, with sometimes a musical theme which seems to get out from a musical box (2,3,6,7&8). Only (5&9) appear to my ears, dryer (due to the 303 TB in 5).

(10) is very purring & bouncing, i think it can’t be possible elseway : a cat was surely present in the Sesto’s studio when cooking this one.
Concerning (11), it’s someting about trancey BigDrum’nBassBeat (chunky kick like in BigBeat used in a Drum N’ Bass structure), entertaining.

mark : 8,5/10
