Not outstanding and easily forgot in five years (in fact I forgot about it one year after and now while revisiting, it can't catch me the slightest like it did the first 20 plays or so), but fun while it lasted. Surely the influences are obvious and song titles like "Out Of Control" are almost too bold, and yeah it was hyped and it sometimes feels like targeted to a specific group, but this album still remains a quite original homage and not a blatant rip-off of the darkwave era in all its facets. I was glad if all the bands shameless copying old formulas sounded this fresh. Surprisingly, there are no weak tracks on this album and no song sounds the same. Even the lyrics are perfectly acceptable. It will never reach the originals it draws it influences from, but then, what does?
Their second album is a shame, though, as it just tries to copy this release and somewhat exposes the band and spoils the fun one can have with their debut.

Brilliant album that I can go back to again and again, but I still prefer their most recent, This is Forever.

In this album you get a handful of indie tunes (that first attracted the indie lovers crowd who ironically hate SWR's guts) but still a great listen. The dark eerie songs/and sounds used in the popular songs too (These Things, Tear You Apart, etc.) echo the sounds of 80's darkwave and synthpop.

None of them can understand how deeply this band has a connection with the first wave of goth rock bands, but the style is very closely associated with and recognized as Darkwave.

If you are interested in Clan of Xymox, The Sisters of Mercy or Bauhaus, you need this album.

This album is one big hoax. Who stands behind SWR? Adam Bravin and Justin Warfield. And a whole bunch of producers, songwriters and trendsetters, as well as trendspotters. This is a product which adresses a specific target, most likely emokids. All the hype, all those photo sessions in a manner of dark avant-garde schizoids ("are we cool enough yet?"), obvious "Parental Advisory – Explicit Content" sticker (there is only one "fuck" heard), all that speaks for itself. The duo's music? Give me a break. It's a total rip-off. Flat, heartless and soulless and completely disastrous. Take Joy Division, Bauhaus, New Order, The Chameleons, first Cure records, cut and paste them and then mix everything without caring about the result. That is what you hear. You've heard it hundreds of times in hundreds better ways. Stay away from this band and this album, they're both FAKE.

Outstanding record, the best newcomer for me this year. The album offers good electronic influences along with modern pop. For some it could sound a bit monotone, although I find there is enough variation throughout the record.

Outstanding songs like Red Flags And Long Nights and These Things alone, make it worth buying. The special atmosphere that songs like Us and the hidden track bring is a very nice extra indeed.

Perfect for electronic lovers and pop/rock enthusiasts alike. And hey, if even a man like Dave Clarke recommends them, who are we to judge. Nice work!
