Subtle in intention, concept and musical aproximation. No lyrics, no anthems, no recorded speeches and most of all, No Words. Difficult? Yes, in some way. But if you are patient enough to let you be captivated by subtility instead of the pragmatic common approach to music, youll get the very concept of their work and what "sacred fury" its intending to manifestate. It would be a perfect nightmare journey for you into today's world reality, in the very misery of modern world. Its interesting how Shinjuku thief its hunting the ghosts of war here but with an entire different perspective, most martial industrial bands should learn from this master.
More than the first half of the album (songs 1-9) are intended as an introduction to the core of the issue. From the calm to the roar. a good metaphor for this part would be the calm before the storm, you can feel it in the air, you can anticipate its brutal force approaching, slowly but inexorably, theres this feeling of combat and cataclysm coming near.and then comes "sacred fury" main title and the center focal point of the whole album. it will blow you and blast you with its power. its just 3:49 minutes but greater in intensity and then... the calm after the storm (songs 11-16) there is it: remains , dissolution, corpses, wind blowing the ashes...
With this work Darrin Verhagen demonstrates his ability to create atmosphere and cinematic scenes so vividly,so authentically, it also shows us the great versatility and professionalism he has acquired with all his experimental music journey. he gaves us a great lesson in music and understanding that we shouldnt mess with the powers within natural/human forces and the absolute within nature becouse there's a "sacred fury" indeed.
great work for all those aware of different perspectives and patient enough to understand them.
