Let me preface this review by saying that I am a huge fan of all of Shpongle's work - I own all four of their albums as well as just about every other production which Simon Posford has been involved with (Hallucinogen, Younger Brother, Dub Trees, Celtic Cross, The Infinity Project, Mystery of the Yeti) and I recognize him as a true genius of electronic music whether it be Goa, Ambient, or anything else.

Having said that, I find this single to be a complete disgrace to the beauty and depth of the original "Divine Moments Of Truth" song from their album "Are You Shpongled?". This single would be more appropriately titled "Divine Moments of Truth - The Hallucinogen Remixes". The first two mixes are made for the dance-floor, and don't get me wrong, I think Simon is perfectly capable of creating killer dance-floor tracks, but I really feel like "Divine Moments Of Truth" was meant to be a deep, spiritual, and emotional piece of music with nuances one would notice for the first time, even on the 50th listen. I would say that converting this type of track into Goa would be considered very disrespectful of the original artist, had it been done by anyone else. In this case, all I can say is that I don't know what he was thinking.

And finally, the "Original Russian Bootleg Mix" accurately conveys the true genius of the song "Divine Moments Of Truth". I love the subliminal "LSD to DMT" stuck in the middle of all the other random syllables of words implying that LSD can lead to Divine Moments Of Truth (DMT). However, although this mix is amazing, as far as I can tell it is nearly, if not completely identical to the mix on the album - so if you already own "Are You Shpongled?", there is no reason to get this single.

To end on a positive note, I highly recommend that you check out any other work which Simon has been involved with; check the aforementioned groups. A true electronic music mastermind he is!

Here we've got the amazing Sphongle track in 3 different versions. Track 1 is the best IMO, and is know from many compilations but the other are pretty amazing too. #2 - the trance rmx is more melodic than the original but is not really that different. #3 - The Russian Bootleg version starts of with the sample only played backwards. I think!?. Has some chants and percussions too. This remix is actually quite different from the original, but is still very nice and is MUCH MORE ambient'y. At the end I don't know what the hell happens but the track turns into a strange carnival-like track with whistles and congas.

Btw, if you're wondering what the significance of the word Sphongle is, there's a definition printed on the CD. It goes as follows: "Digital intercourse is the new yoga of the modern world. Where high technology and magic are inseparable, cultivating life affirming endorfuns for global musical relationships.. a new understanding of sacred geometry and numerical magic let us now probe deeper into the pool of consciousness. it's time to download your ego while hardwired to infinity. Sphongle is a state of being and experiencing. Let's get really Shpongled!" .. Ehh. My words exactly. *ss* ...

Anyway. This is a brilliant EP and well worth the money. Rating: 9/10 Bom shankar!

Hallucinogen's side project, Shpongle dared to push the limits of what spaced out ambient music could do. "Divne Moments of Truth" appears on the album "Are You Shpongled?" as a 17min+ masterpiece of music. Here, on the 12", the track gets stripped down and made into two floor friendly cuts of great goa/psychadelic trance. It surprisingly works well with some crazy progressive tracks (ie ColorFreq's "Mind Lattice").
