THE MUSIC
The three italian musicians who composed and performed the exciting score for TENEBRAE are perhaps better known as co-founders, with Agostino Marangolo, of the highly successful rock group, GOBLIN.
Under this name, the four were responsible for scoring two of director Dario Argento's earlier films, PROFUNDO ROSSO (1975), released in the U.K. as DEEP RED, and SUSPIRIA (1977), which enjoyed a successful U.K. release and has now achieved cult status.
In 1979, they were joined by Maurizio Guanini to score George A. Romero's DAWN OF THE DEAD. This was their first American feature and was written with the collaboration of Dario Argento. Other credits include AMO NON AMO, WAMPIR, CONTAMINATION and SQUADRA ANTIGANGSTER as well as the music for the italian release, PATRICK, which was originally scored by Brian May.
Their stylish brand of rock scoring, with a blend of sinister melodies and rhythms, has made them very popular in their native italy where they have built up a huge cult following. TENEBRAE is their second album to be released in the U.K. (the first being SUSPIRIA) and this could result in a similar enthusiastic response.
