referencing In The Abyss, 12", 23-003

The track 'Within Yourself' on this 12" is something of a hidden gem.It was always the one which caught my attention,even all those years back.
It's hard bassline is combined with some very crisp percussion making it a diamond of a track to mix.Into that comes a menacing undertone to set the scene,and later a swooping synthline is added to create a dark,hypnotic feel,remniscent of the 'Detroit' style sound which Carl Craig was/is famous for.It's acually pretty much like a Beltram take on a Carl Craig tune which could have come out at the time.
A true lesson on how to make the simple sound full of depth - and a rival,in my humble opinion,to his classic 'Energy Flash'.
