Still as potent and new as the first time I jammed to this on fresh wheels. That's right - I used to skate to Ogilvie and Key! Terrific trick potential with electro-industrial chunes, I promise. This LP is a ideal starter kit for any mutant wanting to hop into the industrial-EBM cage.

This will always be my personal favorite Skinny Puppy album, possibly because this was the album that really hooked me in when I was a teenager. It's such a shame that this seems to be their most overlooked album. VX Gas Attack, Human Disease, Who's Laughing Now?, Testure...all some of their best tracks IMO. I also love the instrumental tracks included with the CD reissue. Not a moment of filler on this one, which is a problem with most of their albums. I feel like this was a very transitional album for them, at times foreshadowing the noisier elements of Too Dark Park and Last Rights whilst maintaining a lot of the same utter creepiness found on Cleanse, Fold, and Manipulate. Too bad this band is now only an empty shell of what it used to be, because this album (along with most of their 80's & 90's repertoire) really showcases their potential.

Testure is an awesome song. Others are a little too similar to be distinguished. The resemblance of their logo to Asclepios's stick is also in their lyrics, speaking of medical terms and of disease frequently. There was once a young boy who cured ailments of all kinds with snake poison, but was ultimately shunned from society due to medicine's resemblance to witchcraft. Medical sciences uses a symbol of a walking stick with snakes intertwined in honor of this dude.
