Reviews & Discussion

Oh my god this album is so good i can't stop playing it, if it was on a big label like a Warp or skam it would be in everybody's album of the year.
its so full of rich sounds and the tunes get stuck in your head, if i had to say what it was like.
I would say it the sound of Ulrich Schnauss meets the beauty of Sigur ros and Four Tet.
Skytree has just done a track for the Benbecula Minerals Series so lets hope that is the start of something big for him.
Top Top music.

Pretend it's April, May, June, or July. Any summer month, actually. Whenever the birds are out chirping. When the grass and flowers are all blooming. Animals and insects are zipping around past your face, going on about their life, mating, eating, and doing whatever else they do. (too bad you don't have giant speakers with you to let them enjoy it, yes?). Indeed, it is the perfect summer day. You're in a beautiful meadow with glorious rolling hills far in the background (just Google yourself a picture). The pace is set.

This is exactly what Knotwork would fit well with. A summer day in solitude (only not, look arond you!), interacting with the world around you, with the wildlife and mother nature. This music is like a sound track to a perfect day. Each track fits in with any particular scene in your meadow adventure. Whether you're running through the meadow to track one, or sitting ontop a mountain looking down at the world to track 4, each track has it's place in this atmosphere. Indeed, this is one organic album (despite the obvious abrasive technology heard in the music).

I think the only thing setting this album back from being perfect is the little vocal samples. They don't really have a place in the album, at least not to me. They sort of take away from the 'autumn to spring while emitting a constant warmth from the heart & soul' description. That's not to say it sucks. This is a brilliant CD. Indeed, if this was on Warp or Merck, this would be everybodys favourite album. Unfortunately, most people disregard netlabel music, coming to the assumption that it is all amature sounding and complete shit (simply because it is free?).

Nevertheless, this is a superb album. One everybody should download (why not? it's free!). Download it, burn it on a CDr or toss it on your MP3 player, hop on your bicycle and set out to your favourite place in nature, free from the sounds and distractions of the urban (or suburban) world. Smoke a big spliff for best results.
