This EP opened me up to Spiritual Life Music back in 1997. An amazing and creative production by the nuyorican duo Slam Mode. Since then, I've discovered many of Slam Mode's productions which are ridicilously daring, always pushing the boundaries of "danceable" house music.
Now with Fiat Mistura, they open up with "Europa", a dark deep track, following by "Ganyamede Ultra" which uses the same sample of underwater sounds (whales, etc.) as the ones you find on John Beltran's "Aquatic"; this track is a deep deep journey and has that "subterranean" sound often found in Johnny Fiasco's records.
The big hit though is Abyssus, an instant dancefloor classic. Not a big banger but a beautiful composition with piano riffs. The track is unstoppable, you get the feeling it will go on and on. Great stuff from Angel and Michael, with the addition of Wayne Gardiner.... a great combination!
