Reviews & Discussion

This is a surprisingly excellent piece of work! Why surprising? I suppose 'coz I'm not sure how many people have heard of it! I discovered Smyglyssna from their "Dold" EP when I was hunting for some deep or dubby techno. I picked up "Departures" when record shopping in Los Angeles no having even sampled it. What "Departures" provides is an excellent variety of electro-glitch music similar to the likes of Jega or Autechre. The last track (or perhaps 4th track depending upon which label side is actually "A" or "B") is a simple and soothing (rhodes?) synth piano that plays a basic melody & chords that just puts you in a trance. Then there's a more beat-driven (almost breakbeat) track that has an Autechre flavor. All in all a very well produced piece of work. What's with the accordian pic anyway??
