Although Your Love is attributed to Frankie Knuckles it was actually written and performed by Jamie Principle who wrote it for his girlfriend at the time (around 1985). Still sends goosebumps down my neck when I hear that synth line now!

Candi Staton told in an interview that You Got The Love was originally recorded for a diet video, a film about a man trying to loose weight. It was never supposed to be put on a record. She was completely unaware of the fact that it became a number one hit in the UK in 1991, untill somebody told her.
Because the programme-makers, who also wrote the song, couldn't pay her at the time, they gave her half the publishing and copyright. Thanks to that, royalty cheques came rolling in years later.

The 'proper' Bootleg mix was made up by John Truelove on an EP entitled LOVE/ROCK back in 1989. This used Frankie Knuckles - Your Love instrumental with the Candi Staton vocals over the top. Truelove later reworked the 'Your Love' instrumental into this smoothed out dance hit that most people know today and entitled it 'Eren's Bootleg Mix'. The LOVE/ROCK bootleg version was a bit rougher around the edges but it's by far the best version IMO. Apparently there are only 1000 copies of this in circulation.
This first appeared on an '89 Ibiza released ep called Love / Rock. Red flower on both sides. A side -(a) Frankie Knuckles "You're Love" with accap. Candi Staton "You've got the love" (b) You're Love/ accap. Nicole "Rock the House". B-side (a) Renegade Soundwave "Probably a robbery" with accap. "Mainline for my love" (b) Accapella sample of Seduction "You're my one and only..."
Very rare and sought after ep at the time.Any dj worth salt had it at the time, a year before main UK release.
CLASSIC TRACK!
"Erens Bootleg Mix" is actually only the instrumental of Frankie Knuckles "Your Love" with the Candi Staton's Acappella on top of it but what a result! The BPM is around 110 so it fits good with older stuff. You easily check the track out, just listen to Hed Kandi's "Back To Love 2" in your local record-store.
