Splinterskin ‎– Wayward Souls

Wayward Souls have a certain continuity that draws you into the album. The songs and stories are very captivating such as 'Dancing Dead Men'. This track tells the tale of wooden puppets coming alive at night; some wearing hoods, covering their faces 'as a hood should' – a great folk story for children. 'The Eyes That Hide' reminds me of those watchers in the woodland that always remain hidden. The songs are mostly played on an old classical guitar with the addition of other instrumentation. Tracks like 'The Thing That Wasn’t' works well with the addition of mournful violin, a standout track on the album. There are some shorter sections such as 'Hoofbeats played on steel strings that make for some interesting fillers. I look forward to another album by Splinterskin.
