Worth hunting down for the Beautiful title track alone, although Venus No.17 is worth hearing too.
Square Window, as short as it is, is a better release than Ultravisitor. Thankfully, even when Mr Squarepusher seems to be releasing rubbish there are still obvious exceptions.
A return to some sort of form.
Oddly enough, I almost like this better than the accompanying album release. Abacus 2 is a remarkably upbeat tune with a 2step beat interlaced with nice IDM keyboards that keeps your head nodding throughout; nothing special but catchy and simply charming.
Even though some of this promo release sounds like it was a left-over idea, it still comes over as fresh and raw, and contains some truly excellent unfinished structures that simply rock, unlike the things Mr. Jenkinson has produced lately.
