Something of an underrated record I think, but this doesn't stop me from enjoying it. It didn't cost me a kidney either. The album is different from his (equally excellent) first full-length because of its experimental (or more soulful) take on drum programming which is a welcome departure from his regular work. Unlike many other artists who try to branch out, Stasis remains true to his spirit and gives us sublime tunes like 'Utopia Planetia', probably named after a particular spot on Mars where the 'Viking 2' landed. The track certainly feels inspired by this past event. It's also featured on As One's excellent mix album 'CheckOne' for X:treme Records which might give you a hint as to what the record sounds like. All in all it's more jazz, less tech without losing the soul.
I wonder what he's up to these days because we haven't seen much new material from Steve Pickton since this outing...
