Reviews & Discussion

The original Has It come To This is the same piano-based garage track with Mike Skinner's Cockney rhyming vocals, which remains probably the best official mix of the track. The version on the single lacks the slight mixthrough from the previous track as apparent on the album, which makes it more suitable for listening on its own.

Zed Bias takes the tune in a more drum & bass direction, although unlike some d&b mixes most of the original tune is retained. The unusual effects with the beat and the slight clashing of the light piano with heavy bass are something that is either loved or hated, I personally feel it adds an interesting variation to the mildly repetitive original tune.

The Jameson mix, in my opinion the better remix on this single, takes a few string and vocal samples and reworks them into a bassy dancefloor shaker. The tune is hardly recongizable as Has It Come To This, but the distinctive sampled chorus still is. The tune builds up and drops off throughout the mix, from just strings and a beat to an almost jungle bassline and back again, with the odd comment thrown in from Skinner.

Overall, some good remixes, if a little drum & bass orientated, well worth the buy if you like the original track.
