'Delusion' is a very good commercial trance track. It has a very uplifting 'riff' . Its a really niice Dance -club track to capitalize on.Even if it is some what run of the mill ,its still very melodious & has all those elements very well incorporated in it.Im not an expert on this ,but for sure this is a good club track to bank on.
I do not find it a mere ' copy & paste ' kind of song ,as I feel it has its uplifting moments very well executed in the right place.
Secondly In my opinion Electronic Dance Music as whole genre often has a repeatitive streak -nature to it no matter what and ,over the years with so many artists tracks releasing so many tracks with similar basslines or riffs, -sometimes hard to remember which track was released by which artist- so there it is bound to get monotonous or repeatitive , no matter how much creativity you add to it - it still ends up sounding commercial at times
Sometimes you just want to leave your critical analysis behind & listen to a good club trackyou want
I'll recommend this for any club goer- its a nice track
There's nothing particularly special about this latest release, especially when taking to consideration that Super8 & Tab's previous works of the likes of Suru, Helsinki Scorchin', and Elektra had a very strong, trancey feel. Each of those other songs created the kind of depth, emotion, and atmosphere that trance stands for. Delusion falls well short of this.
Delusion isn't a bad song, so to speak. The melody is easy enough to listen to, though I unfortunately find it lacking in originality. But it isn't in your face, so you can make the case for this song being rather relaxing.
The structure of the song is very basic as well, taking the template of a copy-and-paste trance song more than the daring side of creative twists and turns. Simplicity isn't as much the issue, as their many simple structured songs that are above par, but originality is in this case. Opening with a bassline and beat, then quickly going to a melodic break, then the breakdown, there is nothing too exciting going on. It lacks the element of surprise their previous songs provided. Another problem is that the song seemed to pin the vocal section as its main focus, which unfortunately didn't go over well for me. It seemed to take the approach of trying to sound more appealing on a commercial level, as the singer draws out "This my deluuuusion", without completely moving away from the comfort zone of chord progressions. The use of vocals in a trance song can be a blessing or the bane of the song. I have to go with the latter in this case.
If nothing else, this song is mainly guilty of lacking originality. There are clearly better choices.
