Breaks anyone?

Please...

It's tragic but true that nu skool breaks doesn't really exsist in the form that made it so special in it's primetime.

Maybe I'm wrong with this bold opening statement, but it appears to me it just isn't ....Erm.. Breaky anymore! Everything I hear is more 4beat+anything that is breakbeat isn't generally all that great. The way I feel about it at the moment is that is nu skool went the same way as garage. It's tailed off+merged with other forms of electronic dance music.

Now I don't claim to be any expert on the dynamics of any type of music.. But I know what I'd like to hear+surely that's more important, right?

The flip side of this release grabs me as a good example of my kind of of NSB tune.

I used it a lot at the time+still do when can. A splendid fusion of funk+break laced with the all important component of filth. Just a little but enough to compliment the groovier side in the most agreeable manner. It stays funky but a touch ruff too. Very good in a subitle way - not an all time breaks anthem or anything you understand, but in my ear, very dig-a-ble ;)


Slick. Real slick. Essential elements in this B side give the discerning dancers something extra too. You can almost rave out to it, but you can also get down to it+moooove.


Every1 has different taste.. What I see as a good tune you may not. Personally speakin tho I think 'Beanfeast' is bang on.

I find using these funkier breaks help me a lot in deciding the direction my sets might go. You can move around fairly freely+have more options for your next tune.. Keep it dope or drop in the dirt!
