Perhaps the pinnacle album of Child's early style. Three tracks are gritty, percussive pounders (Particle, Cable, Wire) while the three others (Syllable, Optic, Wave) are more exploratory of their synth lines. Optic for me is the best example of this latter approach. The synth is subtle and complex to begin with. He then rips it in half, separating the right and left channels, lets them drift completely out of phase, then back together. Along the way he morphs them beautifully. Genius of a track.
