Reviews & Discussion

Review by jackthetab Mar 22, 2008
Some intense yet mellow chanting built around
water samples and environmental tribal like
drumming. The music is dark and inviting.
There are some interesting layers of ambience
strewn through the darkness. We are left with
a hypnotic dark environmental recording.

Track two becomes more minimal. The ambience washed
away by some dark experimentalscapes. The chanting
soon returns, yet it seems to create more of a wave
than to stand out as a voice.

Track three begins more as a dark ambient industrial
feel. The samples are droney sound rather mechanical
in nature. Slowly we are introduced to a few short
teaser samples, only to have them end as quickly as
they started. Do not get lost in the loop!
This track sounds best with the right speakers.

Track four dives into a dark and earthy tone. Tribal
drums soon approach and nicely compliment the earth
tone. The drums sound environmental on their own.
This track is more upbeat than the previous tracks,
but still remaining chilled.

Track five continues with the drumming. This is mixed
with a clanging loop. The drum's create a dancefloor
track.

Track six begins with a drone and some intense samples.
The drumming and a female chant ensues. Some of the
samples have a reverb quality. The drumming builds us
to an another ambient industrial sounding track.

Track seven is a short but nice ambient drumming track.

Track eight and nine are nice tracks. Track nine especially.
There seems to be a mood change from track eight to nine.
Track eight is darker and more sinister sounding. The pace
is of paranoia. It quickly slows down for a breath, only
to contiune through its darkness.

Track ten is noisey, with some cut up samples. Probably the
most intense track thus far. It demands your ears, your
attention and you mind. It's short and has a slow fade out.

Track eleven drifts into dark ambient. This is the darkest
track on here. It could easily be on a Raison D'Etre album.
nice fade out at the end.

The chanting and drumming are far from that of New Age, which
makes this a decent cd. I wouldnt spend a lot to get it, but
it is deff worth the listening time.
