Ever since I discovered dark hard techno through an old friend I've really taken to liking Takaaki Itoh's works. Previous Itoh records I've come across are really dark and angry however this one is much more on the lighter tip. Dare I say, this one is almost 'ardkore which is much more my speed. The stand out track here is blatantly "I Did No Wrong" and believe me, he certainly didn't! This track reminds me of the sort of smooth atmospheric 1992/3 jungle tekno that LTJ Bukem became famous for. Instead of using amens and other breakbeats, Mr. Itoh uses his own brand of crunchy drums, arranged to sound like a break beat. The cord progression and mood is just completely identical to 1993 jungle track. I didn't even know this track was like
this till I received it in the mail, It blew my mind! Another good stand out track is "Pointless Life" which is a very nice filler tune that uses the beat from the Killing All Anarchists EP. A nice track with a fierce driving beat although it wouldn't have hurt if it had a hook or melody. "Clean your shyness" is standard Itoh style darkness while "Face life as it is remix" is actually a nice chilled out track. For me its all about "I did no wrong" and I hope to hear more 1992 style hard techno tracks in the future as I live for this kind of stuff.
