Thanks to the Placid mix, I can say without a doubt that this is my favorite record. Just like a proper psychedelic experience, it contains a full range of emotions and gradually changes on you without warning. With a standard 4/4 kick intro it's easy to sneak into almost any set. The lush and elastic electro pulse creeps in to let you know you're definitely leaving Kansas this time. Some sublime strings and poppy stabs join the fray and lighten the mood a bit, but only to make sure you can handle the absolute destructo acid that crushes out the second half of the track. I like to play this one at the end of a set and afterwards watch everyone as if recovering from a bomb blast but with grins on their faces.
I simply can't understand why this record isn't more sought after... THE track here is the 'Placid Mix'. True Dobre & Jamez masterpiece ! The build-up of the first part of the track is brilliant : perfect timing in entering each additional instrument, adding tension every time, starting from the beat alone steadily moving to the trancey feel of the synths. There comes the acid line taking it all up to the next level. I once saw Jeff Mills rock the crowd playing the first part of this track with two copies during ten minutes. That should be enough said. Find this. You have been warned !
Although starting with its pounding kickdrum and with hard hitting, ginding hihats, this track seems to drift away in an atmospheric, fluffy soundscape...but be aware, after the break you get one of the most fiercing acidloops on this planet !
This is mindblowing stuff, acid from the highest order...
