This is why SKAM used to by the best IDM / Electro label around. This tape is summation of all the best aspects of the SKAM sound. Haunting ambient pads, glitched-out funky-fresh beats, and constantly evolving alien rhythms. The barb wire and concrete silhouettes on the cover of the tape matches the jagged sound. It reminds me of those really old Apple computers, split open stacked ten feet high in some industrial dumpster. As the last traces of electricity dissapate from the circuits, a dying drone can be heard.

An interesting mix. I really dig the field recordings that perk up and then get crunched to death with digital distrotion. Combined with the sick beats, these fellows are gonna explode...I heard that half of Tatamax is Quinoline Yellow...

one of my favorite releases over the past few months. this cassette really has some brilliant and haunting production. apparently their live performance at ATP 2003 was quite remarkable as well. once you listen to this tape, it'll be easy to imagine them putting on a great show. they played with gasmasks so as to keep their identity secret - this in addition to skam reporting that before ATP 2003 they had never met tatamax; only communicated via mail with them. tatamax allegedly refuse to use telephones or the internet.

Strangely appealing but spotty production at best. Tatamax, another one of SKAM’s unknowns appears on the scene with a cassette only release that contains some of the most interesting sounds experimentations/mutilations I’ve yet to hear. His style is far advanced and seems as if it would takes years to really totally appreciate it. If you like “Fairy Glen Appearances” check out SMAK 02 includes some exclusives and some re-workings of tracks on this cassette. Can’t wait for a Tatamax full length to see his skill fully progress.

GREAT mix of ambient, noises, computer broken-xploded beats with warm synths, plus odd voices from outerspace.
thinks autechre & brian eno stuck in some dirty pubs in manchester, at 3 in the morning with old glitchy computers & broken keyboards. mysterious, moody & scary ; easily one of the best skam release, so far.
