Teengirl Fantasy ‎– Cheaters

Despite being voted by some influent medias as one of the tunes of 2010, I wasnt so convinced by "Cheaters" which i found messy and a little clumsy in what I assumed to be a hysterical attempt at techno anthemization. That's until I actually heard this in a club, where the menacing crawling bassline, massive stabs, feverish preaching voice sample, and rollercoasting intensity variations revealed in full effect. So yes, this is a powerful, bona-fide techno anthem that Laurent Garnier would have hammered at the Rex Club back in the day, and that could have been another gem of the R&S ctatlogue if released around 1993.
The remixes add quality, with John Talabot in a superb late 80s club-house mood a la Joe Smooth/Robert Owens, and Beautiful Swimmers in a convincing slo-mo leftfield disco interpretation.

'Cheaters' became one of my favorite tracks in 2010, now we have also two great remixes of this house gem.
