Reviews & Discussion

Review by missed_a_beat Oct 19, 2007
While some of the tracks here don't necessarily stand on their own - with fairly sparse instrumentation and subtle arrangements - within the context of the mix they act as textures/ layers that build the mood and rythmic momentum. Underground house music has a heavy emphasis on groove; to fully appreciate and understand this guys talent for tune selection, you have to see him in a club. Highlights for me here include Urban Response - Mission Complete and Makesome Breaksome - Nightshift. Overall, a great mix, check out his Xmas 2002 mix on swags myspace for IMO an even better one.

Well that review was worth reading! Sublime mix from the master of the genre - soulful, slick and sexy sounds for dark and dirty dungeons! Cover is taken from the sketches of the Italian Futurist Architect Santiago Calatrava who inspired many of the scenes in the magnificent german sci-fi movie "Metropolis"

Song 1, is pretty ambiant sounding, Song 2, nice kick and keys, song 3...yaya nothing special, song 4, more acid sounding but not really doing it for me, song 5, gets sort of repetative, song 6, too "out there" and I cant really find a stable stasis, song 7, slows down to a point where it is supposed to be interesting but is boreing, song 8, although it starts to pick up a bit with the beat, has some chick crakin wak voice vocals over the track, song 9, really KICKS SOME ASS and totally outdoes the rest of the cd, song 10 gets into some clubbish sounding wanna be original sounding gibberish, song 11 is not that half bad...its ok, song 12 has some good melodies as well and is decent, song 13 is an older swayzak trak and in my opinion sounds alot better slowed down to 115-120 bpms, (but thats my opinion and is still an alright track) song 14 has got that disco "flave" that creeps up on ya.........enjoy!!!!
