Just a note: The track here "A Warning" is the track that appears on the ESL Dubplate single, and is different from "A Warning (Dub)" that appears on other versions. Same thing goes for the extended version of "Universal Highness". Further, "Shaolin Satellite" is the version found on the 12" single, and has been lengthened by a minute or so. "2001 Spliff Odyssey" differs from other versions by having a sample of someone talking during the period right before the sound of bottles clanking together (I'd assume that there was some copyright issue). "So Vast As The Sky" is as appears on the Dubbed Out In D.C. compilation (and which is longer than on the 4AD cd), and all other tracks are as they appear on other versions of this release. Worth it if you can find it.

Ahhh . . . Thievery Corporation, the D.C. dons of dub downtempo. I was always proud growing up in Chocolate City, and when fellow Washingtonians Thievery Corporation released 'Sounds from the Thievery Hi-Fi' in 1996, I had never been more proud of the city that gave the world Hardcore and Go-Go. A seminal first album by one of the most successful independant artists ever. It was all about the dub then, and it's all about the dub now. Dub on brothers! A classic album, indeed.
