Thomas Schumacher - When I Rock

I have to confess a little more enthusiasm for this than the earlier reviewer.

The Johannes Heil mix is one of the earlier remixes of this tune and the later Live Mix and DJ Rush mix as well as Thomas' own efforts did not eclipse it. I first heard this on a Carl Cox mix CD that came with Mixmag or some other magazine and felt compelled to track it down. With it's hard kicks and little looped scratch sound, plus a tough vocal sample, this one was peak-time dancefloor rocker. On the flip the awesome electro version from Anthony Rother is beefier than many of his more delicate productions, and stands up well in any floor-rocking electro set.

Excellent example (just like Tek 29) of hip hop vocals mixed with techno beats, yep this is treuly Schumacher's style.
Heavy sounds and dark lyrics...gotta love the man!

The first pressing was in Yellow Vinyl.
The music's not surprising, but not bad! Rother worked out one of his solid electro-tracks, featuring the original vocals.
Heil used them too, putting it together with a very rough sound with a screaming appeal and a pounding beat typical for many tracks he released that time and I love that!

Respekt is a nice progressive tribute to Kraftwerk, using their 'Radioactivity' sounds but with a more powerful kickdrum and with no vocal (unfortunately).
