Three Drives On A Vinyl* - Greece 2000

Greece 2000 is one of the defining tracks of trance, and it will be for years to come. Anyone who ventures into the world of trance must listen to this song at least once in their lifetime, as it is a compromise between the two realms of trance music - progressive and uplifting. It's lead melody comes out like an uplifting trance track, except without supersaws and instead a unique synth and some great background pads and riffs. But in the breakdown, it still maintains melody, and in this sense it is a progressive song. One of the great trance masterpieces of our time.

The original is of course a one of the all time great Ibiza anthems, but the plaudits must go to Martin Freeland (Man With No Name). He basically keeps the original as is, but adds his own inimitable pumping psy trance sound to such glorious results that once heard, you'll probably only play this version.

This track is absolutely stunning! It's a very dark, trancey track that is not too much different from Robert Miles club hit "Children" except for that it does not have the "whomp...whomp...whomp" beats of "Children". It has alot of those gorgeous guitars like those at the beginning of "Children". In fact I must say that "Greece 2000" is like a calmer cousin of the Miles hit. If you can find it, this song is worthy of having on disc!

This release of Greece 2000 has some of the more intersting takes of track. Farmatronic Genetic mix is a nice breaks mix, the remix is really not my cup of tea, but I like the idea. Man With No Name remix is a Goa trance remix which I find very nice done and works very well in goa sets and in trance sets. Peace Division gives the track a Tribal house facelift and while being hesitant about the remix in the begining, I enjoy this much more now.
