The first track is the so-called commercial one although it's still pure buzzing Scottish techno powered magic blended with driving piano, delightful background strings, and to top it all off astounding euro house diva vocals belted over the top of it from the Tina Turner'esque sounding Monica, and liberally punctuated by the male mc 'C'mon! c c'mon!
The Bounce (the name says it all) is faster, simpler, 4 to the beat bouncy hardcore, punctuated with male chipmunked vocal 'To the beat, to the beat, to the beat!' Simple and fun, yet totally effective. Interesting wee story behind this one, unfortunately there was a bit of division in the Scottish scene at the time and The Time Frequency were experiencing a backlash. One of the noises being made was the belief that The Time Frequency's tracks were too mainstream and not as hardcore as their Scottish rivals Ultra-Sonic. And so just to show how easy it was to make such a tune, the hardcore track The Bounce found itself being played on Tom Wilson's Steppin' Out show on Radio Forth, with Tom not saying who it was by for a number of weeks. Joe punter went mad for it, especially all the Ultra-Sonic fans who despite slagging off The Time Frequency, were now making requests by the bucketload for one of their tracks to be played without realising it! It was a magic moment when it was made known who the track was really by! Just summed up the hypocrisy of the whole episode.
The last track doesn't let the side down either. Exosphere (brilliant name for a track) is a full on Scottish hardcore techno masterpiece. Brilliantly put together and it contains everything from tinkly pianos to crowd noises to spinbacks an awesome voice sample 'You think that when you die you go to heaven?...You come to us!'
