I'd almost call this a second or re-recorded version than a remix, because some of Afrika Bambaataa's original vocals are provided instead by John Lydon on this version. This gives it a quite different feel, perhaps because Lydon is given more prominence in places and his delivery conveys snide paranoia where Bambaataa's conveys a certain "wake up" urgency. That, and the heavier guitar riffs, make it a little less electro, a little more P.I.L. Lydon went on to work with Laswell and Nicky Skopelitis on P.I.L.'s "Album" / "Compact Disc"; this version definitely has a similar feel. Mind you, it's typical of a perverse artist like Lydon to be involved with a remix that makes you long to dance to the original version.

The Meltdown Remix is really horrible, the dance mix is shorter than the radio edit, neither is extended. Given the choice, choose the original (CEL 176) with the Vocal (5:30) and Instrumental (6:20) mixes. You'll be glad you did. This is not the version that was used for the video.

I was not a believer at first, but this track has become a late night staple for me. Afrika Bamabaata + one of the sickest synth lines ever + Johnny Rotten's snotty punk wail = classic.
