Reviews & Discussion

Rated 2/5

In contrast to the first review, this is at the bottom of my pile of mix compilations. I just can't get into it. It was much hyped so I eagerly bought a copy and it's been gathering dust now for a very long time. To me it has no flow, no direction and no really good tunes on it. The concept of the three styles on the CD's doesn't actually mnake sense when you listen to them. However, obviously this is highly rated by a lot of people so maybe I just don't get it! If anyone wants my absolutely mint copy they can have it for free! Email me.

Of all the thousands and thousands of mix cd's ever brought into the pulic domain, this collection will remain for all time at the top of the pile. It is virtually impossible to describe the incredible journey you are subjected to once launched from the start of CD 1 all the way through to the final few strains at the end of CD 3. Tom Middleton shows what a complete master he is at mixing sounds, including tricks such as 2 tracks effortlessly interweaving, tiny snippets from some others, beats, breaks, jazz, groovy funk, and just plain odd tracks all melded together like nothing else. To try and describe the choices and how they fit would be mad and VERY time consuming - suffice to say a glance at the artists on offer gives a glimpse into the sheer scale of thought behind the selections on offer and the ensuing sequencing which is hardly run-of-the-mill by any stretch. Yes - this CD collection has been perfectly named!
