Have you ever dream about your house, your block, your city, your country, the world... completely alone, out of the human touch, suddenly out of time and freezed in a moment of just the legacy of empty buildings, void freeways and roads, ruled only by the elements and just a penetrating solitude invading it all.
Well thats what mr Lundvall works about here.
Every song is a reflection about solitude, but not necesarily in a philosophical way but a more physical and direct form.
The solitude implicated in space. the "empty city".
Maybe this is a perfect theme for the modern man, that is sorrounded of things and objects but every day more and more separated from others, in the same line its a reflection about a lonileness that dominates our lives now and the future that awaits us... or more precisely, what it is left from us after an unfortunate event.
Lundvall brings a land of specters and huge desolated spaces where they all perform a relentless play in where solitude is the only background for the scene.
Pretty interesting release!

In addition to the comment above... The only sad thing about this cd is its duration: argggh, only 45 minutes. Since the songs are so sensitive and fragile, the listener needs a sort of incubation period to get woven into the right (read: purest) atmosphere ... I was kinda shocked that - once I felt myself completely "merged" with the music - it suddenly ended abruptly and I found myself back in reality. Empty city is the best of Lundvall's (yet so impressing) recordings and most of all, it suits all. Thee release of 2006 sofar!

Tor Lundvall’s latest release “Empty City” has clearly reached an even higher plane than his previous works. Just 45 seconds into this record and I knew it was special. The description “Ghost Ambient” is an appropriate description. The music is flowing, soothing yet interesting. This is a composition that expands the boundaries of ambient music when it would seem that such limits have already been reached. Only a truly creative mind can accomplish such a feat.
“Empty City” is a perfect medium to relax and meditate to; a marvelous and engaging sound that firmly holds one’s interest. While it is most definitely ambient in nature, there’s a complex character throughout that is hard to describe. This disc can be played over and over while maintaining a secure embrace on the listeners senses. An undeniably exotic, superb listen.
The production is spectacular, flawless, professional. Tor Lundvall and Strange Fortune deserve high praise and congratulations on this incredible work.
