Notes

Hard back leather book cover.

"J.A.C." stands for "Joshua, Arthur, Conrad". These are the names of the sons of Rupert Huber and Richard Dorfmeister, a.k.a. Tosca. Between the release of their last album "Dehli9" and J.A.C., the two became fathers, Rupert Huber even twice.

Tosca, the way we've gotten to know and love them - getting better by the album. While J.A.C. provides a much brighter and happier sound than the predecessors, they continue to take their audience through some strange trip between subconcious and crystal-clear. Where "Suzuki" was without comparison, this album continues on the same paths - nothing really new, but nothing you've heard before. The CD cover is made of leather, showing Tosca's dedication not only to the music - but albums as complete works of art.

Like Dehli 9, this album contains songs by Tosca - not remixes. Tosca's own sensibility flits froim funk to "smooth jazz" - not every listener's cup of tea - but the orchestration and ornamentation are coinsistent with Tosca's best - always inspired, sometimes sublime. This album has grown on me over a half-dozen hearings - as did Dehli 9 - so I'm very happy to see Tosca's continuing evolution within their own musical vein. The songs are loose and improvisational, though the craftsmanship is meticulous and the cumulative impact of the album seems to be nearly twice that of the individual songs, a killer ratio in my book.
