Ubar Tmar - Live

So I've been listening to this lately and 'Live' affirms everything I love about Ubar Tmar: quirky, unexpected, experiMENTAL.

The albums starts, like you'd expect from a live recording, with a slightly less edgy and driving tracks. Number 2, is just amazing funk-ride where techno-ish beat dominates in the back and little details change slowly. Just enough variation to keep the listener in sharp state.

By track 4 my head is already trying to do physically impossible movements. The soundscapes are absolutely mind-expanding. Think of video-game sounds and good ol' tb-303 thrown in a soup, massive japanese feng-shui stir and you might be half-way there... you have to hear it yourself. :)

Track 5 is actually a nice more relaxed number. Again a thumbing beat, an occasional effect of electric current, exciting use of tribal drums here and there. The next track also follows the same recipe, slowly picking up the momentum in the end letting those drums gain more focus.

The final track has very odd beat in the beginning but gets more dancefloor oriented as it evolves. Drums are again excellent, there's lots of variation and different types of drum-sounds used. The bpm varies a lot actually in this track which is whole lotta fun. Nice to have more bursting and then not sequences.

Overall I feel this is a very good effort from Takeshi Isogai. If you enjoyed 'True' album I bet you'll fall for this too...
