These days it’s a matter of course that when a track gets big enough to register on the crossover radar someone’s going to end up slapping a vocal on it, even if it’s been proven that straight-up tracks can be hits too. But back in 1990 when ‘Luv Dancin’ was turning out to be a monster cut for a very young and emergent Roger Sanchez, you couldn’t get a record played on daytime radio without a vocal. Ever the innovators, Strictly came up with the idea of reproducing the record with a new vocal. The result often gets overshadowed by its illustrious original, but it’s not without its charms and was the label’s first big vocal cut.
