Reviews & Discussion

Well in the world of IDM and Rhythmic Noise - this release stands out from the average new album. I first became aware of Urusai from Iszoloscope's remix disc that came with one of their albums. Urusai had the first remix on the disc, and one of the best in my opinion. I recently found out he had a release... This double CDr. I'm impressed, but at the same time I feel dissapointed in some areas. The mastering isn't that great and I have to turn the volume up twice as loud just for it to be at the level as a normal CD. The music itself is great - but a couple tracks leave something to be desired. I have full confidence that his next release will be stunning and he'll work upon what he started here.

The remix disc is a really nice bonus and has a nice variety of different tracks that were remixed (usually these things are just 1 or 2 different tracks). If you dig IDM with hints of ambience then you'll most likely enjoy this release. Hurry though... only 222 copies in the entire world.

This is one of the most amazing things I've heard in all of 2005. The closest thing I can think of to compare this with is Gridlock's majestic "Formless" disc, but "Microbial" is really much less majestic and a lot more intimate. Disc Two isn't as uniformly incredible as Disc One, but it's got some great mixes (Manufactura, Liar's Rosebush, and Broken Fabiola in particular). It's a damned shame that this will only make it into 222 hands.
