Blurring the boundaries between conceptual sound art and electronic music, Raster-Noton and The Wire offer up here one of the best free CDs that I could ever have hoped for. Cyclic clicks, grainy textures and a distinct feel of the arctic tundra pervade this collection of compositions by artists who venture down the avenues of minimalism and digital experimentaion.

Brief soirees into rhythmic pastures akin to Stefan Betke's ~scape imprint are superseded by moments of crystal abstraction, where emphasis is on space and fluidity. And the label's aesthetics don't stop there. The packaging reflects Raster-Noton's elegant approach to design; with a transparent bag to house the transparent CD - perfect.
