I really got my ears up for the Finnish label Surreal Audio when they released the debut album by Kiwa. A good quality psychedelic experimental album. Surreal Audio is here out with a new compilation, full of experimental chill out, mostly by artists from Helsinki, Finland.

There are mostly artists I have never heard about before on this compilation, but also a few well known names in the scene. First out is an artist from the UK called Indidginus (Michael Martin). He gives us a really floating, relaxed track. Ambient with some nice melodies and relaxed rhythms. Track 2 by LBJ & Taya is a dubby track full of female vocals. Relaxing, but not as deep and psychedelic as the other tracks on this compilation. Track 3 is by Subfocus (M. Louhio), which is one half of Kiwa. This is a deep, dark track with heavy dub rhythms and atmospheric sounds. Very chilling, with some funky, jazzy vibes mixed inn too. Track 4 is another track with LBJ involved, here together with a group called 2 Hullua Muusikkoa. This is more jazz. Funky café chill, with jazzy guitars etc. Then we get one of my favourite tracks on this compilation. A very beautiful, chilled track by a group called Gettoblaster Sound, with very relaxing melodies and sounds. It sounds almost mystic, with some relaxing guitars etc. Nice one. Track 6 by Transparents is the weirdest track on this compilation. Very experimental electronic music, but really cool too. Funny melodies and sounds. It reminds me a bit of the more experimental chill Infected Mushroom has tried out lately.

Track 7 by Sora is more Drum 'n' Bass inspired. Breaks mixed with female vocals and weird electronic melodies. Track 8 by Koneveljet is another one of my favourites on this compilation. Pretty psychedelic, floating and mystic. Here they have mixed in some voice samples and tribal influences too. Track 9 is by an artist who has been in the psy scene from the beginning. This is Kris Kylven, most known as UX and EON Project. Here he has made a track together with Syb-Sonic. This is a really great track. Deep, atmospheric chill, with tribal influences. The last track on this compilation is by Kiwa, who released their debut album Dreamtime Enhancer on Surreal Audio. The track we get here is not on the album. This one is really psychedelic, with weird sounds mixed with atmospheric floating sounds and tribal drums.

This compilation is pretty good! Finland sure has released quite a lot of good music the last couple of years. It's also nice to see that they go their own directions, instead of always following the usual steps.
