The first track, is probably the most anticipated by Anjunabeats fans ever since it was heard on Above & Beyond's Trance Around The World radio show. And what an awesome update it is! Fusing the classic "Razorfish" melody with the sounds and style of Claessen's "Aria Epica" remix has proven really effective and there is so much atmosphere and energy present in this remix.
Super8 & Tab's rendition of "Amsterdam" is an interesting one. Maybe a little unnecissary since the remarkable remix from Smith & Pledger, but indeed, a worthy addition to the song. if you were a fan of some of Super8's solo work, then check this one out. It has more influence of his style in this. But, I suppose it's similar in style to Super8 & Tab's collaboration effort "Suru", so it's all open to interpretation!
Mike Shiver's remix of the definitive OceanLab classic has become quite anticipated as, like Track 1, it was also feature on Trance Around The World, for a time. This piece of progressive gives a new look on the sound of the Above & Beyond Progressive Mix from the original "Clear Blue Water" single with it's floaty atmosphere in combination with some electro-inspired bass sounds.
By far, my favourite on this disc, this remix of "Lital" is a superb take on the deep progressive dreaminess of the original from Maor. Taking the vocals of the original and transforming everything around it to even include a chorus. This is a remarkable piece from Kandi and quite sought after by most Trance fans I know.
Ahh, what a relaxing mix. DJ Shah brings his Summer sound to the heavenly "Sky Falls Down", and with some fantastic results. It's an interesting listen as it's like a cross between the upliting sound of the original and Shah's own Sunlounger work.
Nitrous Oxide, you genius! He makes "Beautiful Together" even more beautiful and together with this awesome bundle of remixes, it's a great update on the original and almost surpasses even the legendary Signum remix.
Hmm, the last one I'm not so keen on. It seems like it would fit Part 2 better than this CD with it's more minimal and progressive electro sound. In my opinion, this is quite a disappointing effort from Signalrunners, but it does show that they have a lot of variety in what they can produce. I suppose in a way, this track is a teaser for what Part 2 offers.
Anjunabeats 100 Part 1 is a must-have for fans of the uplifting experience that Trance can give and the "Lital" remix present on here is highly-recommended. But if you would also like the progressive and more electro-sound of Trance, then by all means, get Part 2 aswell.
