Ok this is nothing but classic Chicago House. I don't know what that person down there was thinking when he said this wasn't anything less but fabu. I mean this is a golden, nay platinum classic. I might even have to be classified by some yet to be discovered extra-terrestrial element.

The cassette version of this comp was my first introduction to house. I bought it in 1990. At that time in bum-fuck Northern California it was nearly impossible to find house. I used to order anything that might be possibly considered house from my local record shop. That tape definitely got worn out. I played that thing for years. There isn't one cut on here that couldn't be called a classic. Back then house was fun and it had a much harder edge then it does now. This crap they call house now is a whole lot of easy listening bullshit, produced by many European producers who are so far removed from the source they wouldn't know soul if it bit them in the ass. Now I'm not saying all Euro producers produce crap, but a lot do.

This is in my top all time favorite releases. I talked about the cassette tape I used to have in the 90s but I want to make it clear that I do own the record. Just bought it as a matter of fact and wow the sound is soooo much better on vinyl then it is on the cd which I also have.

am a South Bronx B-Boy kid who reluctantly became a House Head in the '80s. After going to the clubs of the times how could you not be a house head. That's probably the problem with house/dance music, it's an activity. You can't just sit around idly and bop your head and memorize lyrics. C'est la vie.
The bad, I've been trying to find this CD for the last few years. My girlfriend (now wife for 2+ yrs) took it to work (amongst others) at the WTC and it became history as the towers fell.
I loved most of the CD, it has that early house feeling. A few people getting together and inventing a sound. Some good, some campy, some silly and some bad, but all of it pure and honest.

OH, that hurts! Come now, yeah - there are indeed a couple of schwillers on this but "Fantasize Me" , dross? Tisk tisk! There's some dandy house numbers on this comp! Diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks though, huh? Listening to this reminds me of the many (seven?) ways techno has gone dow-w-n-n, dow-w-n-n, dow-w-w-w-n-nhill. If these were sparsely produced tracks in their day, where does that put today's point-and-click tracks now? These tracks are downright involved production-wise and downright virtuoso compared to the SHIT I hear now! In these I hear - gasp! - chord changes and drum-pattern changes, thus rendering "songs"! Today's "tech-no(t)" is the same fucking thing with NO CHANGES AT ALL for thirteen minutes! Yeah, this reminds me of why I actually enjoy early house music! Rock on...or "jack on"!

This has two big hits on it- the timeless You Used to Hold Me and the dated but classic 7 Ways. For those alone, it was worth the money I paid for it. But you also get decent tracks like the House Anthem, Carino and the bizarre but goofy Shut Up.

The rest of the tracks- ridiculous, awful dross-remind me why I hated house for so long. House is one of those genres that I think, for the most part, improved with age.
